I started doing my own Subtraction Projects because I wanted to be happier and I realized that no matter how much I added I wasn’t getting happier. I needed to organize what I needed and remove what I didn’t.

I tried Subtracting. And right in front of me things started to shift. About 15 years ago I decided to invite some friends on the journey with me and over the years over 10,000 have been in Subtraction Projects. It was even featured in Oprah!

A lot has changed from the first project. But one thing has stayed true:

The one thing we need more of is Less.

We can’t feel a sense of ease, contentment, joy when we’re buried in stuff, commitments, worry and regret.

So for March we’re going to do a 31-day Subtraction Project together.

#1 It’s free. Like Free Free. As in, it’s going to cost nothing.

#2 I do not have a line of organizing products at Walmart, Home Goods or Target. I have a sneaking suspicion that you too have a LOT of these things already in your house.  And while I would love to design things that are actually good and helpful that’s not the work of today.

#3 I will never give you a project that will take more than 20 minutes and most will take less than 8 minutes. Here’s the thing. I’ve emptied my entire closet and felt no joy. Like. None. That is NOT a joyous experience.  So. We’re not going to do that.
